Borneo- Tanjung Aru Resort

We spent the second half of our week at the Tanjung Aru Resort. It was a relaxing spot with a gorgeous infinity pool and beautiful sunsets.

Borneo - Mari Mari Village

The Mari Mari Village was an interesting way to learn about the past. We visited traditional homes, watched demonstrations and performances, and participated in daily-life activities.

Many of the tribes were head-hunters and used the heads for some interesting purposes. This skull was protecting their food supply and  kept bad spirits away.

Borneo - Nature Reserve

One morning the girls got to be wildlife rangers. They prepared the food for the orangutans, and got to feed some of the other animals on the reserve. Another day we all went on the orangutan walk where we watched the orangutans come down to the feeding platform. The purpose of the reserve is to eventually release these abandoned orangutans back into the wild.  On our walk we also spotted the green snake. The macaw was not a part of the reserve, but we spotted it outside our room in a tree most mornings. And, the monitor lizard made an appearance at the pool. It was a fun place for our animal loving girls!

We also took a nighttime firefly river cruise one night. We had no idea that many people around the world have never seen a firefly. The Australian and British people on our boat were  amazed by their first firefly sightings.

Borneo - Rasa Ria Resort

 We spent our spring break in Borneo (Malaysia). It is the third largest island in the world and is one of only two places left in the world with wild orangutans. Our first resort Rasa Ria had an orangutan nature reserve on site.

 Our tour company XO sent us these pics that they took during our adventure through the city. Such a super fun night!

Stop number one- they served us a delicious beef and noodle dish.

                           

Stop number two was for pics in front of the market.

 The number two in Vietnamese is pronounced "hi". So, we all had to say hi to the camera. \

Vietnam Part 2

Ho Chi Minh (Saigon)

Motorbike Foodie Tour- So much fun!

This was our second stop. Grilling goat breast, we also ate frog at this stop.
